Reflections

4/7/09 Tuesday
Consulted Mr Gerald Koh about our problem regarding the I&E Statement by product. We followed what he told us to do and managed to solve the problem in no time. we then proceeded with the year end closing and printed the necessary reports for the next year.

Finally done with this project and i'm really thankful to all my tutors and friends that have helped us on our way. This project is really tedious but i have learnt alot from this project.
Cheers to all the members of I Love Cas. Thanks for being such awesome members.

Reflections

28/5/2009 Thursday
Today we meet up in the afternoon and decided to start off with our cas project. Despite our enthusiasm, we got stuck with a serious problem. We could not even log in to our project account. It's really demoralising. After trying times and times of retrying, we got frustrated and decided to call tutors for help but they had all gone home.
Luckily the smart me suggest that we change computer. Guess wad, the problem is solved right after that. Didn't waste anymore time as we already did while trying to log on. It was already late at night and we decided to just complete the chart of accounts and call it a day. In this meeting, i have learnt that starting off with a right computer i vital to the success of our team!!

10/6/2009 Wednesday
It's our second meeting we really hope to finish as much as possible. To our dismay, we have to start from scratch due to some errors we have made in our previous meeting. We were fast and were done in no time. We continued keying in the opening balances and recurring entries. We were stuck again. We could not decide whether a transaction is recurring or not. We were really confuse about recurring. After much thoughts, we decided to key the recurring entries in as we can always make changes before we post.
After that, our brains our all dead and we decided to call in aday.
In this meeting, I finally understand this quote
Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

17/6/2009 Wednesday
Start off with setting up of AR and AP. Nothing much about these except they are abit tedious. We finished it fast enough and we went for a break.
We continued with GL transactions. Before we can do anything,
we analysed the double entries for the source documents and determined which entries should go into the GL Journal Entry. It took us really long as we are doing it carefully because we know any mistake here would means TROUBLE in the later part of the project.
This meeting, I have learnt that teamwork is important especially in this project. Certain things need to be discussed as a group so that we can come up with the best solution. Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success.

18/6/2009 Thursday
We continued with the GL journal entries as well as the recurring entries. Keying them in took only afew minutes but ensuring that they are correct took us more than 3-4times more. To ensure that we didn't overlook anything or miss out any details, we decided to do it 'slow and steady.' We took turns to do the typing and finally entered them all. Finally done with GL transactions.
We continued with the keying of AR and AP after lunch and it's all the way till 9pm before we left the lab. Today is a fruitful day and i have learnt that perservances is important as giving up half way will not bring us far. Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another. ~Walter Elliott, The Spiritual Life

19/6/2009 Friday
Thought of our unique entry and did some BDA entries. Didn't do much today as school is reopening and it's time to take break and relax after hell from yesterday.

24/6/2009 Wednesday
It's now our CAS lab session, Ying Ying, Bao Yi and I did the Data Entry form while Wan Jun and Wee Teng is exploring ways to do the void checks. We managed to finish the Data Entry Form but not the void check. We were stuck again. Not to waste time, we moved on to the theory question. We were fast as we came prepared.
I have learnt to work as a group in the process. Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success.

25/6/2009 Thursday
Meet up to edit the theory question as we think it isn't good enough. Ying Ying is editing on the language while the rest of us are busily studying the textbook and looking for ways to improve the content.

9/7/2009 Thursday
Last minute meeting as our CDS tutorials are cancelled. We finally found out how to record the void check. We are officially DONE. Printing is the only thing left. We plan to finish everything by today, however while printing, we were shocked to see our I&E statement flooded with ZEROES.... We decided to call it a day as it's already late and we have no idea of what's going on.
